Climate change is a significant problem that is unique because its sources are so diversified and there is no international enforcement authority for greenhouse gas emissions. This lesson explores a simulation where individuals will get to participate as underdeveloped, developing and developed countries. One of the unfortunate realities of climate change is that countries that contribute the most to the problem are likely to see the least impacts (developed economies) while those that contribute the least will likely be hurt the worst. This workshop explores problems that arise when collective action on an issue could benefit all parties but all parties also have an incentive to work in their own self-interest. It also examines the moral questions associated with the problem of climate change.
